Bamboo fun

My darling Husband gave me an awesome Christmas present. The reason why I am blogging about it today is because we finally received it last night. It is the Bamboo Fun from Wacom. It is a electronic pad where you can draw and write on the computer, and it comes with this great software called Artrage. That is how I created my new Banner. Any thoughts? How does it look?

So I just wanted to share my newest toy with all of you. It is a great tool to create embroidery patterns and layouts, and softie patterns. This is a good thing for you because now I can upload my patterns quicker and easier Yay!!

A non-sewing post :Vansurian time battle

I have had this idea for a story for a while now, and because I no longer have the luxury to sit back play some music and write, it has been on hold (as my other story ideas) for almost a year now. However, The characters are revolting and demanding their release. They have invaded my dreams, and day time thoughts. They have few demands, actually only one, for me to write it all down.

The story is about a boy who has no motivation or desire to do anything but day dream, and as the summer approaches his day dreams seem to become more life like. At the end of the school year he is sent by his parents to visit his grandparents in a very quiet, very small town where the only exciting thing there is his grandparents antique shop. To earn some money he repairs some of the broken things in the shop, and one day he finds a very strange looking clock. He confesses to his grandfather how he has realized he enjoys to invent and create things and consequently his grandfather gives him an antique journal to write down all his creations and dreams. However, the journal is not empty. When the sun hits the pages the boy can see it is full of writings and images. One of the pages he realizes is a detailed description of how to fix the clock.

With the clock fixed he once again starts to have vivid dreams of him swimming in the ocean and being pulled down by an invisible force, only for them to turn into reality. He is transported to another dimension that was frozen in time when the strange clock stopped working and wants possession of the clock in order to continue to exist. The boy now has to fight to save his world and time itself.

I would love to hear what you think of the story, and thank you for reading this whole post

Christmas Break

Because of the current events in my life (new niece, -18*C, Christmas, a whole three story house to clean, father in-law arriving soon) I have to take a short break from blogging. Theren't enough hours in the day to do all the things I have to do. I still haven't finished the baby quilt. It is very difficult to sew the three layers together since my beautiful Bernina is the smaller one. So I have to ask my darling huzzband to help me. In addition because I am procrastinator I am still hoping to finish Basti's Christmas stocking.

So therefore I will be returning to blogging in the new year. There will be new Alfamales, the remaining novena patterns, and even more free tutorials, patterns, and giveaways and I get closer to opening my etsy store. So I wish to you all Happy holidays and a wonderful new year!
Thank you for stopping by!

Something different

I apologize for not having the third novena pattern, but I had some very exciting news and the whole day, and thoughts were centered around it. My niece was born today! And I am so overjoyed with happiness, enthusiasm, drive, and the desire to create. So I wanted to share with you another way that I have expressed my desire to create, through pencil and paper. Here are a few drawings that I have done.

The first one was the first drawing that I had done after almost a year without drawing. I wanted to release my pent up desire that for some reason I could not transmit onto paper. I call it innards, since that is how I felt. I felt as if my soul were on fire and the only way to stop it from burning and turning into ash was by expelling the heat.
This drawing is of a woman waiting. She is "en espera" on hold. She is waiting for whatever needs to happen to happen.
And this final one is a photograph I took while studying photography. It was such a creatively rich time in my life. I had the idea of creating short stories of 1000 words for each photograph in my portfolio. This one is about a Argentine mistress. She is seductive, secretive, longed by all the sailors that greet her at the port, but only loved by one who in return she loves as well. The man she loves is a singer. The story is intertwined with a tango by Gardel. I have always loved the play of light and shadow on this photo.

I would love to hear what you have to think about my drawings and photograph. And I leave you with a question. What has inspired you today? To what extent would you release your crave to create and express yourself?

The new Alphamale!

He is a busy bandit bee who wears beautiful bandannas and burglarize baby bottles. I don't know why, but he just enjoys drinking honey flavored milk out of a baby bottle. Maybe the queen bee didn't cuddle him enough. Either way, there he is hidding out in our Christmas tree. I had a hard time with the stripes. They just wouldn't mesh properly. Any suggestions are welcome and needed!
Any ways I was thinking about the level of vocabulary I want to use in the alphabet book, and it is geared to 3-5 year olds. I am of the opinion that you should not lower your vocabulary for children. They should hear big words and ask their meaning. What do you think?

El Burrito Sabanero!

Yesterday was the first Novena, and as every year I sat near the Manger and recited the prayers. However, this year my husband helped me by reading a few. I love to hear a German speak spanish, especially if there are several rolling r's. They look at it the same way I look at one of their long nouns that contain umlauts, scht's, st's, ts's all in one. Oh my! My tongue feels heavy after I say Merry Christmas!

But Anyway as promised the second Novena Pattern is now available to download. You will find it on the right column under downloads. I hope you like elves and gingerbread houses! Or if you are in Germany Lebkuchen Haeuser!

Thanks for stopping by!

The newest member will bee....

The next member of the Alfamales si Bernard the Bandit bee who loves to wear beautiful bandannas. I am still deciding on what color his bandanna that covers his eyes will be. It of course cannot be black since his bug eyes are black.....decisions decisions.....

Probably this week I will have finished on Demetri the Dragon. I still have to attach his wings, and work out some problems that I have had. For starters His feet are a bit too small, and therefore a bit too difficult to turn inside out. The same thing happens with his arms.

Also I am starting to work on my new quilt. Another of my cousins is expecting her first baby and I have promised her a quilt. She is due in July so I still have a looooooooot of time to work on it. I was thinking about making an alphabet quilt, with you guessed it my Alfamales! Its going to be a lot of work, but fun. I can't wait to get started on it.

First Novena Pattern!

Here is the first of the nine novena patterns.

I hope you like it. Tomorrow I will be uploading the second one, and so on until the 24th. Please leave a comment, any comment on facebook (which I have created a link on the top of the blog) or twitter or even here on the blog.

Thanks for stopping by!

randomized thoughts

Yesterday was a different day. It started out with the usual routine of getting out of the warm cozy bed and greeted by the bone chilly cold of the German winter. However, I was greeted by the beautiful scenery that the little village has to offer. It is the typical black forest village, where you see pine trees covered in snow, German styled houses with their chimneys roaring, and people walking around in their Eskimo gear. It was then that we received the phone call that my husband's twin has a son, and my hubby told me all about his weird dreams of swimming under water and it made sense. It is weird the type of connection those two have...

However, back to the sewing world I have been thinking about what to make my darling husband, since I am still petrified to go out shopping by myself and be asked somthing in swayvian german (the dialect of south-west Germany) and completely forget even my name. I believe I have come up with a pretty good idea. I have designed a logo for the armchair activist, which he is the ultimate armchair activist. I do not mean this as a offense. He is a very well informed political person, and knows a lot about things that we should all know and worry about.
I was planning on making him a laptop cover, or....I don't know a journal...I'm still thinking what exactly, but I plan on uploading the pattern as nice gift for whomever stumbles upon my blog. I would just like a comment in return. The name "Armchair activist" was not made by Wooni, but the design is!

Also, I plan starting the 16th of December, when the Novenas start (a latin christmas tradition to pray around the manger nine days before christmas), to give away christmas themed embroidery patterns. All you have to do is either comment on a post of mine, follow me on twitter, or become a fan of Made by Wooni on facebook, easy... And the best part is you get to pick which one you get!

So I hope you all will participate! And thanks again for stopping by!

The Purrrrr from my Bernina....

I have finished my lion and it was a wonderful experience for many reasons. First because I was doing something I haven't done before, which was adding a main as an applique. Well, I had to attach that first logically, before sewing the other parts together. It was a tad bit difficult to not sew on top of the main when I had it inside out!! But I managed, and I am actually quite please with her.

While thinking her up I believed I would call her Lucy, however after she was stuffed and closed up she no longer looked like the Lucy I had imagined (Lucy was a big chocolate lab that my cousin used to have and I used to lovingly call her Lucifer. She was a very nice dog, but active as hell and had a wonderful fetish of biting toes.) She I decided to name Her Laura.

So let me introduce to you all Laura the lovely lion! She lives in Liberia and loves liquerish, lollipops and linguini. She enjoys the smell of lavenders and laughs quite loudly.

Awesome!!!

I am featured on the best craft website Craft gossip!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooo excited and just realized how much work I have to do. The good thing is that it motives me even more to work on the alfamales. Right now I am working on a lion, owl, sheep, and bee and trying to work out the wrinkles (hehe little sewing joke) out of the dragon. He is still missing his wings, but will soon be getting them.

It sounds like a lot, I know, but at least I am a hpyeractive person that can clean, decorate a 2 meter tall christmas tree, and make mock ups all while the little one naps! Heres hoping :)

By the way think link to Craft Gossip is here.

A great find!

Even though I was lucky enough to have had sewing lessons from my oh so patient abuelita, I could vaguely recall all the wonderful different stitches that exist. Luckily i stumbled upon this wonderful site that has a video library of hand embroidery. She makes each stitch seem so easy that I am tempted to try each and everyone of them.

Here is the link to the video library

Let me introduce you to Penelope Pulpa. She is an octopus who lives in the cold artic ocean. She is tired of the cold sea water and wants to go to Portugal where she hears is wonderfully warm and pleasant.

Alfamales!

I am begining my collection of softies. The idea of the Alfamales (pronounced alfa-mall-ease) is to create a softie animal for each letter in spanish. So far I have created Dionisio el Dragon, and Penelope Pulpa. I will post pictures of them both when I have finished sewing them.
Along with each animal there is a book that contains a ultra short story for each animal and letter. All the illustrations and stories in the book will be done by me.

More coming soon!!!!!!
